Football

Football, in its broadest sense, refers to a team sport played between two teams of usually eleven players each, where the main objective is to score goals by moving an inflated sphere, commonly referred to as a ball, into the opposing team’s goal. The term “football” can refer to different sports depending on the region; however, it is most commonly associated with association football, known as soccer in some countries, which is governed by FIFA globally.

In association football, players primarily use their feet to dribble, pass, and shoot the ball, although the goalie is allowed to use their hands within a designated area. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The sport is characterized by its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, and it is one of the most popular and widely played sports in the world.

In certain regions, “football” may refer to other variations, such as American football, Canadian football, or rugby football, each with distinct rules and gameplay styles. Despite the variations, the core idea of scoring points by advancing a ball remains consistent.
